Bowery Residents Committee Leave Administrator - 131 West 25th Street (Temporary) in Manhattan, New York

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: R esponsible for the administration, coordination, and monitoring of absences for all types of leaves including but not limited to Family Medical Leave, Paid Family Leave, Disability, Long Term Disability, Personal leave, Workers Compensation, and COVID-related leaves. Ensure compliance with BRC leave of absence policies and applicable Federal State, and Local laws. Act as point person for employees and managers with inquiries about leave and provide best-in-class customer service and support to employees experiencing a need for leave. Promptly process claim forms and leave requests and ensure relevant medical documentation is reviewed and received within required timeframes. Work with benefit carriers including workers' compensation, LTD, PFL, DBL, and others. Maintain regular contact with employees on leave to coordinate all aspects of their leave and their return to work. Provide regular communication to managers regarding duration of leave, expirations, and extensions. Work closely with HR Management to support employment decisions when approved leave time is exhausted. Maintain employee Leave of Absence files and trackers. Ensure related benefits are appropriately continued or discontinued during leave and after expiration. In addition: Participate in the rotation of conducting new employee orientations. Assist Director of Payroll & Benefits with special projects as needed. Related duties as assigned.

HOURS: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS: BA and solid background working with the administration of

  • Strong understanding of current federal, state and local regulatory requirements

    impacting leaves. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive

    information with discretion. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with

    individuals at varying levels within the HR department and BRC. Detail-oriented and

    highly organized. Good written and verbal communication skills.
